Rivet studs, also known as rivet nut studs, are internally threaded products, hence the term “nut” is added. In the standard parts industry, “nut” refers to an internally threaded product. What are the standard specifications for rivet studs? Are they installed in the same way as commonly used nuts? Are there any special requirements for their materials? First, let’s talk about the materials of rivet studs. This is relatively simpler, with only two types: one is carbon steel galvanized, and the other is stainless steel. Currently, other materials are not available. Why are these two materials the only choices for material selection? Can’t there be more options? According to the regulatory documents of the riveting industry, each specification of rivet stud has specific dimensional standards for its hexagonal side and thickness. What are the standards for rivet studs? In China, rivet studs do not have a national standard code for description. This product is a knockoff that has been circulated from abroad. It is used as an internal thread, hence the name rivet nut stud. From the two images above, we can see that apart from different materials, it is also divided into through-hole and blind-hole types. Currently, the equipment used to produce rivet studs is precision automatic lathes and CNC machines. Rivet studs are produced with high precision and can be installed and used on sheet metal with a thickness of 0.5 millimeters. Stainless steel rivet studs can be used in very harsh environments for up to twenty years without rusting.
